English language requirements

  • IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing;
  • TOEFL (Internet): 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 18 Writing;
  • Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing;
  • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): Pass grade of B2;
  • Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking, 300 Writing;

Course Details

Undertake an extensive range of key subjects and a career pathway to practising psychology. Cover fields such as personality; emotion; development; social, cultural and biological influences; and mental health. Access excellent facilities including up to 20 research laboratories, and a unique placement opportunity, and graduate for work in clinical, educational, organisational and academic settings.

What you will study

First year

A typical first year may include:

  • core topics in psychology and research methods
  • a selection of elective topics or topics towards a minor or second major in a non-psychology area.

Second year

A typical second year may include:

  • core topics in research methods, personality and social psychology, cognition and learning, human development, and psychological assessment and measurement
  • a selection of elective topics or topics towards a minor or second major in a non-psychology area.

Third year

A typical third year may include:

  • core topics in research methods and applications of psychological science
  • a selection of year-three psychology elective topics including clinical psychology; advanced social psychology; applied cognitive psychology; lifespan development in cultural perspective; mind, brain and behaviour; and forensic psychology
  • a selection of elective topics or topics towards a minor or second major in a non-psychology area.

Your career

To register as a practising psychologist in Australia, you must complete an honours program in psychology and either two further years of supervised experience, or an approved qualification such as a Master of Psychology (Clinical).
