Entry Requirements

Bachelor degree or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.5 in one of the following allied fields:

Engineering (Civil)
Building Architecture
Landscape Architecture
Quantity Surveying
Construction Management
Real Estate and Property
Other cognate landscape architecture/engineering/technology disciplines assessed to be appropriate OR
A qualification deemed to be equivalent (in the opinion of the selection panel)

IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 and Band score of 6 in all bands; TOEFL Paper-based: total score of 577 with a minimum of 4.5 in the Test of Written English (TWE) or Internet-based: total score of 79 with a minimum of 21 in Writing, 18 in Speaking and 13 in Reading and Listening; Pearson Test of English (Academic) overall score of 58 and Skills profile of no less than 50 in all skills; and Cambridge English-Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 176 and Individual score of 169 in all skills.

Course Details

The increase of infrastructure and building projects is a significant driver of the economy—both in Australia and throughout the world.

There is growing demand to ensure these projects are delivered on time, within budget, and at a high level of quality, to satisfy stakeholders.

What will you do?

This degree is hosted by the School of Architecture and Built Environment but takes a holistic approach to construction management. You will:

build advanced technology and management skills related to the field
apply life cycle and system thinking approaches to the management of construction and civil projects
draw on business and project management expertise from across the Faculty of the Professions
complete a supervised research project.

Where could it take you?

You might oversee the development of a World Centre for Positive Wellbeing in Adelaide. You could prepare for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Perhaps you’ll work on high-speed railways or help with the construction of an Australian hyperloop.

Career Readiness

Graduates of the Master of Construction Management will appeal to a wide range of employers including contractors, developers, government agencies, project management consultants and engineering consultants.

Degree Structure

The degree shares a number of its introductory first year courses with master's degrees in Property and Project Management. The degree also shares the research method course (Designing Research) with the Master of Architecture.

In the second year, students will undertake an independent research in the dissertation course. Students will have options to do a 12-unit dissertation course which provides a pathway to apply for PhD program. Alternatively, students can do a 6-unit dissertation course plus two more electives.

Students can take electives from a broad range of master's degrees in entrepreneurship, architecture, property and project management.
