Flinders University recognises international secondary schooling for direct entry to undergraduate programs.

English language requirements

  • IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing;
  • TOEFL (Internet): 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 18 Writing;
  • Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing;
  • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): Pass grade of B2;
  • Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking, 300 Writing;

Course Details

Develop your skills and knowledge in a specialist degree that offers unique global insights and prepares you for employment in a diverse and rapidly evolving industry. This degree covers contemporary issues in tourism and event development and planning, and investigates the approaches required to best respond to the opportunities and challenges of the global tourism and events industries, such as climate change and the implications of rapid tourism growth both domestically and internationally.

Note: This course used to be called Bachelor of International Tourism

What you will study

First year

A typical first year might include:

  • core topics in introduction to tourism studies, introduction to events, interpretive tour guiding, marketing principles, academic and professional communication, accounting for managers, and tourism portfolio
  • choice of an option topic.

Second year

A typical second year might include:

  • core topics in tourism research; place, culture and tourism; event design and management, and introduction to digital graphic design
  • a selection of option topics.

Third year

A typical third year might include:

  • core topics in contemporary issues in tourism, tourism business planning, and sustainable tourism planning and development
  • a tourism or event studies-focused placement
  • a tourism or events research project
  • a selection of option topics, including an opportunity to participate in an international field trip.
