Individuals wishing to enrol in this qualification must hold. CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Prior to enrolling into the program individuals are informed of admissions and prerequisite criteria they must meet to be able to study this program. This information includes that an individual: Must be minimum 18 years old. Complete a Formal LLN test All prospective students are required to attend an interview with the relevant Trainer or Student Support Officer and the outcomes of this review are recorded on the Pre-Training Review form. Students must demonstrate adequate core skills of being able to learn, read, write, research, use technology, work in teams and count as these skills are embedded in the study of this program. Must supply IIBIT with a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. As a benchmark, to undertake this qualification, all students will need to display competence at or above level 4 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF): Reading: R 4 Writing: W 4 Oral Communication: C 4 Numeracy: N2/3 The purpose of this evaluation is to ensure that participants have the appropriate level of language and literacy skills required to succeed in the course. it also assists out academic staff to identify any language, literacy and numeracy support a participant may require during the course. this can be confirmed by requiring participants to complete the IIBIT initial Skills Assessment Process.
This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators. Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens. To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

Students who successfully complete this course will be issued with the qualification CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
